How to Calculate Margins on Carton-Packed Wholesale Party Supplies

Wholesale prices for carton-packed goods are quoted per carton, but you sell per piece. Converting between the two correctly is the basis of every pricing decision.

Step 1: unit cost

Unit cost = carton price ÷ pieces per carton. On PARTI both numbers are on each product page. Add your own inbound shipping and handling per piece to get your landed unit cost.

Step 2: margin vs. markup

Markup is profit as a share of cost; margin is profit as a share of selling price. Example: a landed unit cost of €1.00 sold at €2.50 is a 150% markup and a 60% margin. Decide which figure your business tracks and use it consistently.

Step 3: check the carton pays back

Multiply your expected sell-through (how many pieces you realistically sell this season) by your profit per piece. If one carton covers more than a season's demand, start with one carton and reorder rather than overbuying.

How to order by the carton

Every product on PARTI is sold by the carton, with a minimum order of one carton per product. The carton quantity and the EUR carton price are shown on each product page, so you can calculate your landed cost per piece before you order.

  • Open the category and compare carton quantities and carton prices.
  • Add the cartons you need to the wholesale cart — mix as many products as you like.
  • Check out with your company details, or send the cart as a quote request.
  • Questions about a product? Message us on WhatsApp straight from the product page.
